Rad Inks (Private) Limited; the innovative software company based in Colombo, is Celebrating it’s fifth anniversary with discounts of up to 25% on their portfolio of software products.

Over the past few years, Rad Inks has released a series of ground breaking applets including Rad Upload. Rad Upload is the industry leading file upload solution. While conventional upload systems can tackle only a handful of files, this software can easily transfer thousands of file and folders with Giga bytes of data all at once.

Since it’s debut, Rad Upload has gained wide acceptance and it is currently used by tens of thousands of webmasters to build more user friendly websites. Web developers have found the advanced features of Rad Upload; such as client side image scaling can lead to significant reduction in development time for applications such as Photo and Video Galleries or Content Management Systems. The company plans to release a new version of this software to coincide with the anniversary.

Rad Upload was preceded by the Rad SFTP applet; a secure file transfer program which was highly rated when it was first released and went on to be featured on the official java website. The Rad SFTP client can be easily integrated with existing web sites and applications. The goal is to provide users of the web site a secure, convenient and familiar form of file management. It is a replacement for the more conventional FTP which is a protocol that is completely lacking in security.

The Rad Inks SFTP client makes use of the SSH FTP protocol, which despite the similarity in name with the File Transfer Protocol is a much more secure system. With FTP all the data and commands are transferred between the client and the server in plain text. Thus with FTP user names and passwords are transmitted without encryption. Security conscious webmasters and organizations are moving away from FTP and embracing the more secure SFTP where all the commands and data are transferred with encryption.

These and other products are used by numerous clients. The presence of a diverse range of clients in different spheres and geographic regions is ample testimony to the companies products. Some of these clients include Time inc. Smugmug, IBM, US Dept. of Agriculture and the Harvard University.

To make use of the special anniversary discount please use the following coupon code: 4yr20pc

Rad Inks has announced availability of Rad Upload 3.12, which makes it easier and faster for web developers to upload content to their web servers.

One of the most difficult aspects of designing a content management system or a file sharing application is to create the file upload component. With the new version of Rad Upload, the user can select any number of files and folders, drag them and drop them on her browser to start the upload.

However, if the files chosen contain more data than the webmaster is willing to process, the user will be immediately notified of the fact and the upload abandoned.

With traditional upload systems these safety checks are not available. Excess data can only be rejected at the server side. That means with conventional upload forms, the data is posted to the server regardless of it’s size.

Testing and possible rejection happens only afterwards, leading to an utter waste of time and bandwidth.

There are other ways in which the webmaster can make life easier for the user (and for himself) with this software. Specially if the web site is an image hosting or photo printing site. Many such sites only want images to be uploaded; Rad Upload can easily be setup to reject anything other than images.

Certain web applications that deal with images need to re-size them. the conventional approach is to upload the files first and re-size them on the server. Because images with large dimensions have large sizes, it takes longer to upload them. With Rad Upload, the images can be re-sized at the sending end, reducing the bandwidth consumption, upload time and the load on the server’s hardware. The other significant bandwidth saving measure is the software’s ability to compress files before the upload begins. This can lead to a reduction of upload times by 50-70% (depending on the content).

May 17, 2007 — Rad Inks has announced version 2.01 of the Rad SFTP Applet - a replacement for desktop FTP and Secure FTP clients. With the applet installed on an intranet, all the employees of the organization can make use of that single installation to manage files on remote servers leading to significant savings.

The Rad Inks Secure FTP client makes use of the SSH FTP protocol, which despite the similarity in name with the File Transfer Protocol is a much more secure system. With FTP all the data and commands are transferred between the client and the server in plain text. Therefore with each FTP connection the user name and password will be transmitted without any encryption. Security conscious webmasters and organizations are moving away from FTP and embracing the more secure SFTP where all the commands and data are encrypted before being transmission.

Because the Rad SFTP applet runs in the context of the web browser, anyone using the system does not need to install any software on his own computer. Since the applet is light weight it starts up almost instantly and can rival the start up speed of a desktop client.

It’s low in resource consumption and has all the features commonly found on desktop SFTP and FTP clients. These factors make it a suitable replacement for desktop file transfer programs. It’s user interface is the familiar two table layout common with file management software. As a result a user does not need to make any adjustment when switching over to this Secure software.

Rad Inks first released the Rad SFTP applet in 2003 and at the time the product was featured on the official Java website and received high ratings from many software reviewers. Since then Rad Inks has made a series of other ground breaking products and many of them are being used on numerous Fortune 500 companies.

Rad Inks, has released a new improved version of Rad Upload; a drop in replacement for HTML file upload forms. Rad Upload is the fast and convenient way to share files on web 2.0 sites.

The website’s visitors will find that sharing files is as easy as dragging them from a folder on their hard drive and dropping them on the browser. There is no software for the user to install or configure. There is more to Rad Upload than just drag and drop. It can compress files as they are uploaded, for speedier data transfer. When Rad Upload is used as a photo uploader, the website owner can choose to limit the maximum height and width of any image. Larger photos will be resized automatically. The result is a dramatic reduction in bandwidth usage.

Another benefit of using Rad Upload is it’s ability to filter out unwanted files at the source. Client side filtering means only certain types of files can be uploaded. Files that would take up too much space on the server will never be transferred. Because Rad Upload does all this and more at the client end means web applications take easier to develop and maintain.

Benefits to the end user, include the ability to upload thousands of files and folders in a single operation. On the other hand, with conventional HTML forms, if multiple files are to be uploaded the user needs to manually select each file which can be tedious and time consuming. Rad Upload allows any number of files to be uploaded in a single click.

The Rad Upload applet is compatible with all popular browsers such as: Explorer, Firefox, fsMozilla, Safari and Opera on Windows (including Vista), Linux and Mac OS X. It is also compatible with popular server side technologies such as PHP, Java, Perl and .NET.

Rad Inks (Pvt) Ltd specializes in File Transfer software and Rad Upload is being used on numerous prominent websites included several owned by fortune 500 media companies.

Rad Inks announced the release of Rad Upload version 3.02, a popular applet used on tens of thousands of web sites for enhanced photo upload.

Rad Upload is a file upload solution specially designed for use on Photo sharing websites and and Content Management Systems. It is a replacement for conventional HTML forms traditionally used on websites for file upload. Such forms are cumbersome to use and can handle only a limited number of files at once. Rad Upload on the other hand can easily transfer thousands of files and folders containing giga bytes of data with just one drag and drop.

When uploading with HTML forms, the user needs to individually select each file but folders cannot be selected. Thus when an entire directory needs to be uploaded, the user may have the click the browse button hundreds of times. On the other hand, with Rad Upload the user can select any number of files and folders, drag them across and drop them on the browser to start the upload.

Another draw back of HTML form based uploads, is that they do not provide real any indication of upload progress, the user has to guess what percentage of data has been transferred. With Rad Upload, a progress monitor will pop when the transfer beings so that the user can easily keep track of progress.

Another major benefit of using Rad Upload is it’s ability to resize images at the client end. Often a web application that deals with images, expects them to be of predetermined size, and ends up resizing them to fit. Doing so at the server side consumes a significant amount of resources on your server and it’s costly to develop as well.

The Rad Upload applet is compatible with all popular browsers such as Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari and Opera on Windows, Linux and OS X. It is also compatible with popular server side technologies such as PHP, Java, Perl and .NET Since it’s debut in 2003, Rad Upload has gained wide acceptance and it is currently used by tens of thousands of web masters and evelopers to build more user friendly websites. They have found the advanced features of Rad Upload; such as client side image scaling can lead to significant reduction in costs and development time.

Rad Inks (Private) Limited is an innovative software company located in Sri Lanka. Their first claim to fame was in August 2003 when their Secure FTP applet was released, a product that was featured on the official Java website. The Secure FTP applet was followed up by the first release of the drag and drop file uploader. These and other software by Rad Inks can be downloaded from the company’s website at http://www.radinks.com

April 06, 2005, Rad Inks announced the release of Rad Upload 3 (Beta), a popular applet used on tens of thousands of web sites to handle large file uploads.Rad Upload is a replacement for conventional HTML forms traditionally used on websites for file upload. These forms are can handle only a small number of files at once. Rad Upload on the other hand can easily transfer thousands of files and folders containing giga bytes of data in one go. To initiate an upload, users simply drag and drop their files onto the browser.

With Drag and Drop, users find that posting their photos on a website is very similar to copying files from one folder to another on the local hard disk. Large images can be resized and unwanted files can be filtered out. As a result uploads complete much faster than they otherwise would. Web developers also benefit from these advanced features. They find that development time for applications such as Photo and Video Galleries or Content Management Systems can be significantly reduced.

Client side image resize reduces processor, memory and bandwidth consumption on the server. This benefit can be further enhanced with other bandwidth saving features of the applet such as on the fly gzip compression. The end result is that web site owners can use their existing resources to serve a bigger user base. A new feature addition makes it possible to control the Jpeg compression level of the images produced by the scaling transformation.

Rad Upload is compatible with all popular browsers such as Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari and Opera on Windows, Linux and OS X. It is also compatible with popular server side technologies such as PHP,Java, Perl and .NET. The software can be easily integrated with existing web sites in minutes.

Rad Inks announced the release of Rad Upload 2.20, a popular applet used on tens of thousands of web sites for handling file uploads. With Rad Upload, visitors to a website simply drag and drop files onto their browser and the files are instantly transfered to the server. While conventional upload systems can tackle only a handfull of files, this software can easily transfer thousands of file and folders with giga bytes of data all at once.

Since it’s debut in 2003, Rad Upload has gained wide acceptance and it is currently used by tens of thousands of webmasters to build more user friendly websites. Web developers have found the advanced features of Rad Upload; such as client side image scaling can lead to significant reduction in development time for applications such as Photo and Video Galleries or Content Management Systems.

Client side image scaling lowers processor, memory and bandwidth consumption. This benefit can be further enhanced with other bandwidth saving features of the applet such filtering unwanted files. The end result is that web site owners can serve a bigger user base with the existing resources.

The Rad Upload applet is compatible with all popular browsers such as Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari and Opera on Windows, Linux and OS X. It is also compatible with popular server side technologies such as PHP,Java, Perl and .NET

These and other software by Rad Inks can be downloaded from the company’s website at http://www.radinks.com/
