Rad SFTP Version 2.02

We are pleased to announce the release of a new version of Rad SFTP, a widget used to transfer files securely between a user’s computer and a server. Unlike the more traditional File Transfer Protocol, with SFTP all data transfers are encrypted to ensure maximum protection of your data.

Rad SFTP runs in the browser, making it unnessary for the user to install any software on his computer. It’s rich feature set includes the ablity to upload and download entire folder trees, directory management and all other functionality expected of a File Transfer Program.

The widget is light weight and starts up almost instantly, yet it has all the features expected of a file transfer program. It has low resource consumption and a single installation of the software on a website can be made use of by any number of users.

The Rad Inks Secure FTP client makes use of the SSH FTP protocol, which despite the similarity in name with the File Transfer Protocol is a much more secure system. With FTP all the data and commands are transferred between the client and the server in plain text. Thus with FTP user names and passwords are transmitted in plain text without encryption. Security conscious webmasters and organizations are moving away from FTP and embracing more secure SFTP systems where all the commands and data are transferred with encryption.

We first released the Rad SFTP applet in 2003 and at the time the product was featured on the official Java website and received high ratings from many software reviewers. Since then we has made a series of other ground breaking products and many of them are being used on numerous fortune 500 companies.
