Rad Upload Version 3.0 Beta Release
April 06, 2005, Rad Inks announced the release of Rad Upload 3 (Beta), a popular applet used on tens of thousands of web sites to handle large file uploads.Rad Upload is a replacement for conventional HTML forms traditionally used on websites for file upload. These forms are can handle only a small number of files at once. Rad Upload on the other hand can easily transfer thousands of files and folders containing giga bytes of data in one go. To initiate an upload, users simply drag and drop their files onto the browser.
With Drag and Drop, users find that posting their photos on a website is very similar to copying files from one folder to another on the local hard disk. Large images can be resized and unwanted files can be filtered out. As a result uploads complete much faster than they otherwise would. Web developers also benefit from these advanced features. They find that development time for applications such as Photo and Video Galleries or Content Management Systems can be significantly reduced.
Client side image resize reduces processor, memory and bandwidth consumption on the server. This benefit can be further enhanced with other bandwidth saving features of the applet such as on the fly gzip compression. The end result is that web site owners can use their existing resources to serve a bigger user base. A new feature addition makes it possible to control the Jpeg compression level of the images produced by the scaling transformation.
Rad Upload is compatible with all popular browsers such as Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari and Opera on Windows, Linux and OS X. It is also compatible with popular server side technologies such as PHP,Java, Perl and .NET. The software can be easily integrated with existing web sites in minutes.
